1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2) is defined by:
- Beyond all boundary fences, hedges or ditches
- Beyond any line of white stakes including the white stakes to the left of the 16th green
- Internal Out of Bounds
- 9th Hole – when playing the 9th hole, a ball coming to rest beyond the line of white stakes to the right hand side of the hole up to and including the second ditch is OOB. These stakes are treated as boundary objects during the play of the 9th hole. For all other holes they are immovable obstructions.
2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
- These are indicated by yellow or red stakes. The stakes indicate the penalty area, they do not define the margin, which is the break of the ground into the penalty area.
3. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)

- These are indicated by yellow or red stakes. The stakes indicate the penalty area, they do not define the margin, which is the break of the ground into the penalty area.
4. Ball Deflected by Power Line
- It is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line anywhere on the course the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made. See Rule 14.6
