  • Beyond all boundary fences, hedges or ditches
  • Beyond any line of white stakes including the white stakes to the left of the 16th green
  • Internal Out of Bounds
  • 9th Hole – when playing the 9th hole, a ball coming to rest beyond the line of white stakes to the right hand side of the hole up to and including the second ditch is OOB. These stakes are treated as boundary objects during the play of the 9th hole. For all other holes they are immovable obstructions.
  • These are indicated by yellow or red stakes. The stakes indicate the penalty area, they do not define the margin, which is the break of the ground into the penalty area.
  • Includes Immovable Obstructions/Ground Under Repair. Relief may be taken under Rule 16.1
  • Immovable Obstructions Include:
  • All shingle, cockleshell or other artificially surfaced roads and paths on the course
  • All of the following stakes: Red and yellow penalty area stakes, internal OOB stakes when playing the 10th hole and distance stakes
  • Fixed sprinkler heads
  • Guide ropes, wires and stakes attached to trees
  • Unhealed drainage cuts/channels
  • No Play Zones – A player MUST take relief from these areas under Rule 16.1
  • All areas of Ground Under Repair marked by white/blue stakes or signs or hoops
  • All young trees identified by stakes and/or wrapping
  • All marked temporary greens. A player MUST take relief if a ball lies on the temporary green or there is interference to their area of intended swing or stance
  • These are indicated by yellow or red stakes. The stakes indicate the penalty area, they do not define the margin, which is the break of the ground into the penalty area.
  • It is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit a power line anywhere on the course the stroke does not count. The player MUST play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made. See Rule 14.6
